Report Bursting Dataset Guide

This document provides information on how to select a dataset for Report Bursting.

Objective

The objective of this document is to guide users in selecting the appropriate dataset to be used for report bursting.

Prerequisites

Users should have basic knowledge of the report they want to generate and understand any parameters required to run that report (if applicable).

Dataset Guide

In Report Bursting, you can Create, Edit, or Select a Parameter Dataset or Without-Parameter Dataset, depending on your requirements.

Before using Report Bursting, users should first review the report being used.

  • If the report has parameters, it will prompt the user to enter valid parameter values during execution. Therefore, you must select or create a dataset that contains at least one column with values that can be passed to the report parameter. Example: If a report requires a Customer Number to generate customer-specific output, the dataset should include a column containing customer numbers.

  • If the report does not have parameters, the user must select or create a dataset containing end-user information such as Name, Output Format, or Email ID. This ensures that the report can be generated for each user and automatically sent to their email address.

After creating the dataset, select it from the Dataset dropdown in Report Bursting. You can then map the dataset with the report accordingly.

In Report Bursting, you can also create or edit datasets using the icons available at the top-right corner of the Dataset box as per your requirements.
