Introduction

This document contains information about how to select Dataset for Report Bursting.

Objective

The objective of this document is to guide a user in the selection of a dataset to be used for report bursting.

Prerequisites

As a prerequisite, one should have knowledge of what report he needs to generate what parameters used to run this report if a report has parameters.

Dataset Guide

In Report Bursting you can Create, Edit, or Select Parameter Dataset or Without Parameter Dataset as per your requirement.

Before using Report Bursting Users need to first check the report that they are using for report bursting. If you are using a report which has Parameter, it will ask the user to enter a valid parameter when executing the report. So for that, the user has to select or create a dataset that at least has a column containing a value that the report parameter will accept. for example, if a report is created in a way that requires a user to pass a customer number to generate customer specific report. we should select or create a dataset that has a column containing customer number data.

If the report doesn’t have any parameters, in this case user has to select or create a dataset that has information of end-users like Name, output format, or email id so that report can be generated for each user and sent to each user’s email id.

After creating the dataset you must select that dataset from the drop-down menu for the dataset in report bursting, and then you can map this dataset with the report.

In Report Bursting you can create and edit the dataset from the icons available on the top right corner of the Dataset box as per your requirements.
