Introduction

The term Master Data within the AIV application encompasses functionalities for creating various components such as Datasources, Datasets, Parameters, Group Datasets, Data Pipeline, and Datasource Mapping.

Users can access the Master Data tab from the main menu of the AIV application.

Datasources

Datasources refer to the origin or location of your data. This could be a database, a file, an API, or any other source that provides data for analysis.

Datasets

Datasets are structured collections of data organized for analysis. They can be derived from one or more datasources and are utilized for creating reports or performing data analysis.

Parameters

Parameters are variables that allow users to input values or criteria dynamically, facilitating the creation of flexible and customizable reports or queries.

Datasource Mapping

Datasource Mapping allows administrators to configure how data from different datasources should be integrated within the application, ensuring data consistency and accuracy. Access to this feature may be restricted to users with administrator privileges.

For more detailed guidance on using these features, refer to the specific sections in the application’s documentation or contact the support team.

Visibility Based on Privileges

The availability of specific sections, such as Datasources and others, under the Master Data tab is contingent on the user’s privileges. If users encounter difficulties accessing sections under the Master Data tab, contact the administrator regarding access issues.

Master Data Tab Contents

Datasource

The Master Data section of the AIV application allows users to create datasources with various types of metadata, including traditional relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL) and modern solutions like Big Query, OLAP, and NoSQL databases. Users can also work with flat files and customize datasources according to their needs.

Datasource mapping extends the availability of created datasources to multiple users, facilitating collaborative data access. The AIV application supports a wide range of database types and custom options, empowering users to work with data in a way that suits their specific requirements.

Datasets

The Dataset feature in the AIV application offers a comprehensive solution for creating datasets based on required datasources. Users can incorporate parameters and hierarchies, providing a customizable and structured approach to data analysis. Additionally, the ability to preview datasets before saving them allows for fine-tuning data configurations.

The Data Pipeline feature supports the creation of joins and unions between multiple datasets and tables, enabling advanced data manipulation and analysis. Users can also incorporate client-side and server-side scripts into their datasets for further customization and automation.

Group Datasets

The Group Dataset feature allows users to organize and categorize data based on specific parameters or criteria, streamlining data retrieval by grouping it according to predefined conditions. This optimization enhances efficiency and reduces unnecessary data processing, resulting in quicker and more targeted results.

This feature is particularly useful for analyzing data based on distinct categories or subsets, leading to more efficient data analysis and decision-making within the AIV platform.

Parameters

Parameters provide users with the flexibility to create various types of parameters, enhancing user control and customization within the platform. Users can create different types of parameters, such as text, numeric, or date parameters, tailored to specific requirements. Parameters are designed to receive input from end-users, enabling a dynamic and interactive experience.

Data Pipeline

The Data Pipeline feature in the AIV application allows users to easily define relationships between different datasets and tables through an intuitive, user-friendly interface. With Data Pipeline, there is no need for SQL knowledge to create joins between tables or datasets. This feature simplifies data integration by enabling users to visually connect tables and datasets using drag-and-drop functionality, making it accessible to business users who may not be familiar with SQL. It also allows users to join pre-existing datasets within the AIV application.
