Getting Started with Your First Viz in AIV
This guide will walk you through the process of creating your first Viz in the AIV (Active Intelligence Visualization) application. You’ll learn how to connect your own data source, create datasets, and build a Viz to convey insights using Edit Mode and Preview Mode.
Overview of Steps
To start creating Viz in AIV, follow these three main steps:
- Connect to a Datasource
- Create Datasets based on the Datasource
- Create a Viz (Visualization)
Step 1: Connect to a Datasource
Before building a visualization, you need to connect your data source to AIV. To do this:
- Navigate to the Data Sources section.
Step 2: Create a Dataset
After successfully connecting a datasource:
- Navigate to Datasets section from the main menu.
Step 3: Create a Viz (Visualization)
Now that your dataset is ready:
- Click on the hamburger icon (☰) in the top-left corner to open the main menu.
- Go to the Dashboard section.
- Click the + Plus icon or go to Dashboard -> List View -> Create Viz to create a new Viz.
- In the popup, give your Viz a meaningful name and click Create.
You will be redirected to the Viz Editor in Edit Mode.
Understanding Edit Mode and Preview Mode
-
Edit Mode:
- Here, you can drag and drop various widgets (charts, tables, KPIs, maps, etc.) onto the canvas.
- On the left side, you’ll find the widget panel.
- On the right side, you’ll see the filter panel, allowing you to create filters and interact with data dynamically.
-
Preview Mode:
- Switch to Preview Mode to see how your Viz will appear to end users.
- This mode hides editing tools and presents a clean, interactive view of your data.
With these steps, you’re ready to start building powerful visualizations in AIV. Make sure to explore the widget options, apply filters, and fine-tune the layout for the best storytelling experience with your data.
