Annotation

Annotation in business intelligence (BI) tools enables users to add notes, comments, and explanations directly to data visualizations and reports, enhancing clarity and understanding by providing contextual information. Users can annotate features such as dashboards, reports, and ad hoc reports.

Benefits

Annotations enhance context and clarity by allowing users to add explanations and insights directly to data points. They improve collaboration by facilitating communication within the BI tool, supporting better decision-making by providing detailed context for stakeholders. Annotations also create an audit trail of discussions and decisions, and allow users to personalize their dashboards with relevant notes, enhancing the overall user experience.

Annotation Group

The annotation group allows users to store texts in individual groups, enhancing clarity when adding annotations from multiple dashboards or reports, or for ad hoc reports. By using these groups, users can control the visibility of annotations and set active times for them within the application.

Annotation Item

The annotation item allows users to add multiple annotations within a group. Users need to add a key before adding the text. Each item is an individual text message in the annotation, and users can include images and web links. Every time a user adds a different key, the annotation is added as a new annotation under the selected group.
